Branding?
Branding is central to commodity culture. The product name has meaning attached to them through naming, packaging, advertising, and marketing. Seen as unique and irreplaceable by other products or brands  (Sturken).


So what? 
The emblem of Tesla triggers the recognition of Tesla Motors and Elon Musk that creates meaning by just looking at the logo. Tesla Motors is perceived as cutting edge and the frontier of innovation. Anything that has the Tesla emblem on it has that meaning. The created meaning of the Tesla emblem creates the notion to the general public that the brand is desirable and unique.
